Under The Lens: About Neologisms

Neologisms are newly coined terms, words or phrases that are yet to enter mainstream language. They are often created by combining existing words or adding suffixes and prefixes. When a word is no longer new it is no longer a neologism. Opinions differ on how old a word should be so that it is no longer a neologism.

Many times neologisms disappear from common use after some time. Whether a neologism becomes part of the language depends on several factors and the most important of them is acceptance of that word by the public.
